Keynote Summary: The
keynote will explore the dynamic intersection of
human-centered design and artificial intelligence
(AI), examining how design has evolved to better
meet user needs in an increasingly digital world.
It will highlight the transformative role of AI in
enhancing user experiences through predictive
analytics, personalized interfaces, and more. The
talk will also explore how the integration of AI
with the Internet of Things (IoT) and massive
sensor data can create a more seamless and
symbiotic relationship between humans and systems.
This includes discussing the potential benefits,
such as improved efficiency and user satisfaction,
as well as the possible drawbacks, including
privacy concerns and the risk of over-reliance on
technology. By addressing these aspects, the
keynote aims to provide a comprehensive view of
the opportunities and challenges in achieving a
harmonious balance between human-centered design
and AI in the era of rapid digital transformation.

Co-Chairs: Lisa N. Townsend and Anne M. Sinatra, USA
8:30-10:00 (EST) | Special
Interest Group (SIG) Session Focus: This SIG is designed to inform and engage conference participants in exploring the Generalized Intelligent Framework for Tutoring’s (GIFT) tools and methods. Participants will be informed of GIFT’s newest features that go beyond course creation, to include capabilities for real time multimodal assessment to inform student models and estimates of student competency. The session will include a panel of current GIFT users spanning academia, industry, and government who will showcase how they are using GIFT for ITS research and training applications. |
|||
Objectives: Panel members will discuss how they are implementing training using GIFT and lessons learned in their domains during an in-depth interactive Q&A. The panel discussion and focused Q&A will lead to a demonstration within GIFT that is selected based on the input of the participants. GIFT users and collaborators drive the need for new capabilities and this two hour SIG event will bring new users and collaborators into the mix as the community continues to develop new features and use cases for adaptive instructional systems.
